Changes to the 2013-14 Cookie Program

As many of you know, the Girl Scout cookie program is very important to our council. For many years, we have received our cookie products through ABC Bakers. In fall 2011, the 22 member Product Sales Committee comprised of volunteers from all areas of the council, voted to evaluate the cookie baker serving Girl Scouts of Central Texas. The purpose was to ensure the best product, price and service was available to our girls, volunteers and supporters.

Both ABC and Little Brownie Bakers (the two official GSUSA-approved cookie vendors) were invited to give a presentation to the Product Sales Committee, volunteers and key staff. We provided the bakers with the criteria in which they would be evaluated. This criteria included program and marketing materials, growth strategies, technology product offering, supply chain and warehousing support, and customer service. After the presentation and much research and deliberation by our committee, they reached a final decision.

Beginning in the 2013-2014 program year, the official cookie baker for Girl Scouts of Central Texas will be Little Brownie Baker. We will begin an official roll-out to our membership later in the year at the annual Service Team Conference and we will schedule information sessions as well. We wanted to take this opportunity to bring this upcoming change to your attention.

While we may be saying goodbye to Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lots and Mango Cremes, we will be welcoming Dulce de Leches, Thank U Berry Munches and the ever popular Savannah Smiles! We are very excited to be working with the great folks at Little Brownie Bakers and are thrilled about the future of the Cookie Program with them as our partner.

For additional questions or comments, contact the Product Sales Department.

  4. Sorry to hear you're getting rid of Thanks a Lots and Lemonades. Our favorites and favorites of many of our buyers. The Lemonades sell better for us than thin mints. Will likely be our last year selling.

  5. Thank you for going back to the Little Brownie Bakers, they are a better baking facility.. The cookies are wonderful-Thin Mints are crisper. When the GS went to the other baker, we were VERY disappointed-big mistake. I waited and drove three hours to go to San Antonio to get the better cookies. Now the sales will stay within the GSCTX/Bluebonnet area helping our girls instead of helping other councils.

  6. I am cautiously excited regarding having new cookies to offer. I for one have tried both the Savannah Smiles & Thank U Berry Munch and love them. I have a friend at work who get those from a friend in Dallas during cookie time. She supports my gs of course but these are cookies she always gets from her source in Dallas - now she won't have to. I think we should all keep an open mind; but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the TAL's this year- tasted way better than last year.

  7. Although I believe this is a wise move and it will be nice to go back to the traditional cookie names, Thanks A Lots and Lemonades will be greatly missed. While our Lemonades are sweet, cool and refreshing, the Savannah Smiles are very hard and a powdery mess. I have not tried the Dulce de Leche or the Thank You Berry Munch, but I urge the Council to get with the bakers on a compromise about which cookies to keep and which cookies to retire.

  8. The heart and soul of girl scout cookies are thin mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs. ABC does a horrible job with these recipes. My partner and I have not bought cookies in the last 3 years because they are so inferior. We are excited to support Girl Scouts again and get back to the good stuff.
